SUMMARY:Advocacy Accelerator: The Government and Your Arts Organization
DESCRIPTION:Our elected officials play a vital role in funding the arts and changing policy to increase the public’s access to more arts programming. New York City Council Member Chi Ossé and New York Senator José M. Serrano\, State Arts & Culture chairs\, will join Museum Hue for the first session of Advocacy Accelerator on Wednesday\, November 1. During Government and Your Arts Organization\, Chi Ossé and José M. Serrano will discuss the New York government’s critical role in supporting the arts. The City Council allocated $34.4 million to support programs funded through The Department of Cultural Affairs. Attendees will learn how the DCLA uses this funding to support the arts through funding applications\, holding hearings\, and how testimonies impact their work. It’s crucial that Black\, Indigenous\, Latinx\, Asian\, and all People of Color arts leaders are better informed and engaged on how government can address disparities through funding and policies. \nABOUT ADVOCACY ACCELERATOR \nMuseum Hue announces Advocacy Accelerator: A Workshop Series That Champions Change. Advocacy Accelerator is a three-part virtual workshop series envisioned and developed through our HueArts reports research and recommendations. In response to the needs of the 400+ HueArts entities — Black\, Indigenous\, Latinx\, Asian\, and all People of Color-led and founded arts organizations —  Advocacy Accelerator demystifies the lobbying process for these organizations by providing actionable steps and resources so that they can learn how to champion their organizations through government advocacy. Throughout the series\, city and state elected officials\, government staffers\, and attorneys will discuss the government’s critical role in supporting the arts and illuminate the process of government outreach\, funding applications\, and collective advocacy.  \n  \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:Calling all those who wish to land their dream internship in the arts!\nIn Session 3 we will cover internship preparation for those looking to get their start in the arts and culture field. Participants will hear from arts internship experts on how to find internships\, when you should apply\, what to expect during the application process\, and what to include to help stand out. You will have the opportunity to chat with leaders in the field who run internship programs at NYC institutions. \nMuseum Hue will facilitate this session. Resources and the program recording will be available following the live Zoom session. The Zoom link will be sent out the week of the program. \nABOUT THE HUENIVERSITY CAREER JUMPSTART \nMuseum Hue’s Hueniversity Career Jumpstart is a program of virtual workshops that uplift emerging Black\, Indigenous\, Asian\, Latinx\, and all People of Color in the arts and culture field. This series is part of the next phase of HueArts NYC and NYS\, responding to the need for increased professional development opportunities for current and future arts workers. The series of workshops consist of conversations and presentations led by experts in the field who will provide insight into their career path\, offering tools centering how to build a network\, resume and cover letter writing\, internship preparation\, and more. Recordings\, a best practices resource guide\, and informative tool-kits from each session will be available on our website. The series will culminate with an in-person networking event for participants to interact with fellow emerging arts professionals and have the opportunity to build relationships with experts in the industry. This program provides actionable next steps to support emerging arts professionals seeking guidance on how to navigate the arts and culture space. Museum Hue is committed to creating resources and programming that speak to our growing arts community. All Hueniversity Career Jumpstart programs will have video captioning and transcripts available with the release of the recording.
